| Plant Manager Fish Processing St John’s, NL 26rl1002 Plant Manager Fish Processing St John’s, NL 26rl1002 This job is located in Winnipeg Manitoba so relocation will be required. We are a self-sustaining federal Crown corporation created in 1969, and we are the buyer, processor and marketer of freshwater fish from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Northwest Territories, and part of northwestern Ontario. The Corporation’s mandate is: to purchase all fish caught and offered for sale; to create an orderly market; to promote international markets; to increase fish trade; and to increase returns to fishers. We are looking for a Plant Manager with fish, meat, or poultry processing experience. This is an ideal step-up opportunity as the previous Plant Manager has progressed within the organization. The ideal candidate will be team-oriented, action-oriented, able to work in a multi-stakeholder environment (and plan for the seasonality of fish) as well as having a high sense of ethics, integrity and customer service. Role and Responsibilities Based in Winnipeg and reporting to the Vice President Operations, the Plant Manager oversees and coordinates all aspects of processing operations. The Plant Manager’s focus is on planning, budgeting, control and improvement in processing operations including the following responsibilities: Key priorities: • Overall responsibility for processing operations, efficiencies and yield control • Provide input for Reports (Monthly, Quarterly, Annual), Corporate Plan & Strategic Initiatives • Implementation and application of Processing Operating System • Leadership & liaison with Marketing & Field Operations on production planning • Leadership and management of staff in a union environment • Working member of Health & Safety Committee and collective bargaining team • Negotiation and administration of supplier and customer contracts • Establish and control processing operating budget • Accountability for labor efficiency and yield improvement • Capital planning and budgeting for production Selection Criteria – Technical Competencies • Related post-secondary education (Degree in Engineering or Business preferred) • Plant processing experience in a fish, meat or poultry environment • Experience with lean manufacturing and cycle time reduction • 10+ years plant management and first line management experience • Must have strong computer skills (systems, ERP & MS Office) • KRONOS, LINCS Oracle (People Soft, JD Edwards) highly desirable • Experience with HACCP, WHMIS, Health & Safety • Proven people management, team building and change management skills • A strong team player **When applying to this job please put JOB TITLE and JOB # in the Subject Line ** | |
