Mechanical Design Engineer We have an immediate opening for a contract Mechanical Design Engineer, potentially leading to full-time employment. The candidate is a mechanical, industrial or manufacturing engineer or technologist, and is experienced with design, solid modeling, structural Finite Element Analysis, and modern CAD drafting techniques, particularly for harsh marine environments. Recent experience with Pro/Engineer or similar package is a definite asset. This position is based in St. John’s, NL. Under the supervision and guidance of the Engineering Manager/Lead Designer, the Mechanical Design Engineer will design, analyse and develop production drawings for pressure casings, electromechanical assemblies, tooling, and assembly/test fixtures for ongoing development projects. The designs are unique and require innovative solutions within the constraints of the client, environment, military/commercial standards and engineering principles. The Mechanical Design Engineer will apply modern computer aided design (CAD) methods and performs comprehensive design analysis to verify the suitability of the design for the application. The Mechanical Design Engineer will develop full production drawings and be involved in associated configuration documentation, assembly and test procedures, and will follow the systems through production, assembly and test. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
